Texans QB job still ‘wide open’

Houston to stage QB competition: Just because the Houston Texans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to replace Matt Schaub on the roster, doesn’t mean the veteran is going to be gifted the starting job. Head coach Bill O’Brien told reporters that the job is still “wide open”, though he did toss some praise in Fitzpatrick’s direction. Considering the competition includes Case Keenum, T.J. Yates and Tom Savage, it would be a mild surprise if the former Harvard man didn’t win the job. But whoever wins the job is likely going to have an impact on the receiving corps — especially an already disgruntled Andre Johnson.
